CREW Opposes Proposed Rule to Amend DOJ FOIA Regulation

Today, CREW signed a letter in opposition to a provision of the proposed rule which would amend the Department of Justice‟s (DoJ) Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Regulations by creating a new section 16.6(f)(2). This would permit DOJ to lie by allowing the agency to tell a requester it has no responsive documents when the documents would identify the target of an investigation that does not yet know he/she is being investigated. CREW singed the letter along with The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and OpenTheGovernment.org.
